Standard Diets

The Regular diet designed to achieve and maintain an optimal nutrition status in people who do not require medical nutritional service (the use of specific nutrition service to treat illness, injury or health conditions)

It is based on the principle of healthy eating and the dietary recommendations for the general population that is low in cholesterol , sugar and salt have also been instituted.
The Energy provided is between 1800 to 2000 kilocalorie / day with breakdown of macronutrients, carbohydrate at 50-55%, protein 15-20% and fat less or equivalent to 30% of energy value.
3 main meals and an afternoon snack are provided and there is choice of spicy ,non- spicy and vegetarian dishes in the menu .For long term staying patient, that is more than 1 month, an a la carte menu is offered.
 
Vegetarian / Pediatric/ Diet During Pregnancy

We also provide a lacto-vegetarian diet, pediatric diet and diet during pregnancy for patients who require special considerations.

Therapeutic Diet

The diet is based on the normal diet which has been modified as necessary for specific medical conditions. Modification of the diet may take any of the following forms:-
· change in consistency of foods- soft diet, pureed diet
· include greater or lesser amounts of one or more nutrients- calorie modification, protein modification, fat modification & sodium modification
· miscellaneous and diagnostics test diet - low residue diet, VMA diet

Besta has a dietitian at each Outlet who works closely with the hospital dietitian to ensure that the patient receive a meal that is good, wholesome and correct.
